Assessments


Fitness Assessments

Professionally trained and college degreed Fitness Specialists will take you through a health risk assessment. Includes blood pressure, resting heart rate, 7-site skinfold, girth measurements, cardiovascular endurnace, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility measurements. A personalized program and equipment orientation is included. Free for HFC Athletic Club members. Appointments taken at the front desk.

Your assessment consists of two parts, the assessment itself and an equipment orientation. Our goal is to get to know you and your current fitness level. We would like to know as much as we can to set up the best program for you!

Your Fitness Assessment

  • Dress for the activity, wear comfortable work out clothes and athletic shoes.
  • For your comfort, you may request a male or female Fitness Specialist. Let us know before your appointment.
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, tobacco and a large meal at least 3 hours before your assessment.
  • Do not exercise vigorously before your assessment.

Fitness Assessment Steps

  1. Review Fitness Screening Questionnaire
  2. By meeting one-on-one with you, we get to know you better. We will also be alerted to any restrictions and/or concerns that you may have.

  3. Measurements
  4. First, we measure your resting heart rate and blood pressure. We then measure your body composition (skinfolds and circumferences) and flexibility (sit & reach). A graded (progressively challenging) submaximal treadmill test (85% of your max heart rate), push-ups and sit-ups are also measured.

  5. Results and Goals
  6. Your Health Fitness Specialist will generate a report and show you where you rank against established norms for your age and gender. Based on these findings, specific, realistic goals and an ideal target heart rate zone will be determined for you.

  7. Personal Exercise Program
  8. A specific program will be developed for you based on the results of your assessment. Our programs are based on guidelines established by the American College of Sports Medicine.
